Portfolio
Monday we received the first portfolio of James, how exciting! Corresponds to our evaluation board, the old report card, but consists of several pieces in order to give a slightly 'more full of children. James has nearly 5 ½ years and attended the kindergarten of the last year of kindergarten in Italy. In recent months he worked so hard and for those who knew him from before, the results are all right .... the baby has never been interested in design, practically started here, with the excuse to explain his daily journal and came here knowing only write his name printed in capital letters.
So: first, on the cover, the self-portrait, more accurate than usual. It 'really him!
Then a few pages of his journal that the child has chosen for the 'accuracy' and significance: here, for example, wrote on its own without waiting for the teacher's guide that helps you to hear sounds. It is a space ship that burns: a spaceship burning

The second part contains an interview that teachers make to describe the child and his perception of himself. The third
section contains several pages with many items relating to various pre-school subjects and areas of development of the pupil. The teachers write the level reached in late January, then will update at the end of school year. The answers range from N (not yet proven), S (with teacher's help) to B (beginning to prove), C (shown frequently) to P (jurisdiction). James has many B, is starting now at various levels, but has made so much progress to let me really surprised, even in relationships with peers.
concludes the portfolio in a narrative form rather detailed description of the work, similar to what a parent is (was) in the schedules of her son Italy. I found this course very useful: the items are quite detailed and, to a very simple example, if I wrote in the field of fine motor skills that can not tie his shoes yet, well, at home as a parent I know that I can work (of course in this case did not need me to say that the teachers, but in other fields had no idea of \u200b\u200bthe demands that the school here is a child of this age).
